Cities that grow themselves

Should we rein cities in or embrace their biomorphic growth? Urbanism is here to stay. Cities are spreading like branching plants across the globe, with places like China (historically rural) seeing a construction boom over the last 25 years that makes the country now parallel density ratios of the United States. Anthropologist Josh Berson, the author of "The Human Scaffold: How Not to Design Your Way Out of a Climate Crisis", examines the threats rapidly growing cities pose to humankind in the long term if we don't put autonomy at the core of such development.
